Overview of GrowVT-Ed

GrowVT-Ed was formed to address the teacher shortage in Vermont, initially focused on the Northeast Kingdom.   Knowing teachers were going to be hired on provisional licenses without the teacher coursework from approved colleges and universities, a guided peer-review program with seminars to address the Core Teaching Standards and Certification Area Competencies was necessary for these educators to grow their practice quickly in order for robust student learning to occur.

GrowVT-Ed is a "flipped" experience. Participants complete online lessons focusing on the Peer Review Requirements each week offline, at your convenience, and then jump online for a one-hour synchronous discussion each week (Thursdays for the 23-24 School Year). Participants should block out 2-3 hours each week to work through the lessons.

Each participant will be assigned a Content Coach who will support the development of the Peer Review Portfolio. Your content coach will provide guidance, motivation, and most importantly, their expertise in their area of licensure.  They will help you set achievable goals so that your portfolio will be completed on time and with strong evidence of the competencies.

Those with provisional licenses expiring 6/30/24 should aim for a March, 2024 completion. Those with a 6/30/25 expiration should aim for an August, 2024 completion. Funding for the Content Coaches expire in September, 2024.
